Test phone numbers
Before you connect your own application, e-shop or form to BulkGate, it is worth trying out that you send the requests correctly. That is what test phone numbers are for: the portal and the API accept them like any other number, but the message never goes anywhere.

How test numbers behave
- The request is accepted. Neither the portal nor the API rejects the message, and the API returns the same response as for a regular number.
- The message is not sent. Nothing reaches the operator or the phone.
- Nothing is charged. No credit is deducted for a message to a test number.
- You will not find the message in the History. No record of it is created.
- No delivery report arrives. Nothing about the test message comes to your address for delivery reports or through webhooks.
What they are good for
- Connecting to the API. You check that you send the right credentials, that the request has the right format and that your application can handle the response.
- Forms and plugins. You try out that your e-shop or your own form really triggers the message, without bothering real customers.
- Automated tests. You can safely use a test number in tests that run repeatedly.
What you cannot test with them
Since the message does not go out, a test number will not let you try anything that happens only after sending:
- processing delivery reports and message statuses,
- the record in the history and reports,
- how the message looks on the recipient's phone.
