Message history and delivery statuses

Where do I find my message history?

BulkGate Portal records every bulk SMS and SMS notification you send and makes them available in a single history list.

  1. Click Reports in the menu
  2. Click History

Two controls sit above the table:

  • Date range with the options Last 24 hours, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Change Interval and Turn off. Last 30 days is the default.
  • Filter, which narrows the list by Phone number, Wallet, Campaign ID, Status, Country, Tag (TAG), Sender name, Message ID, Application ID and Channel.
Note

Change Interval lets you enter a custom from–to range. It can span at most 6 months; for anything longer the portal rejects both the listing and the export.

What information does the history show?

The list has five columns:

Column What it contains
Channel the channel the message was sent through — SMS, Viber, RCS or WhatsApp
Product the product or integration the message was sent from
Recipient the recipient's phone number, country and operator
Status the message status and, for SMS, the number of parts
Price the price of the message in credits and the time it was sent

Clicking a row expands a detail with the Sender name in its header and the message text. Next to it you will find Message ID, `Wallet` and Price calculation (number of parts × price per part = total price). Below them, depending on the message, appear the labels Routes, `Sender`, Application ID, Tag (TAG), Campaign ID, Long SMS, Unicode and Ported phone number. If the message failed, the detail also shows the error message.

For a message that belongs to a campaign, the Price column holds a Campaign dashboard button leading to that campaign's dashboard.

Important

Message texts are not kept in the history forever. Older records show This message has expired instead of the text; all other data, including the Message ID, remains.

How do I export the history?

  1. Click Reports and then History in the menu
  2. Set the Date range and, if needed, the Filter so the list contains only the records you want to export
  3. Click Export selected

The portal builds a CSV file and offers it for download straight away. The export always matches the date range and filter you currently have set.

The other option is Send export to email. The export is then processed in the background and the portal confirms it with The export will be sent to your email. This suits large listings where a direct download would take a long time.

What is the message ID and where do I find it?

Every message has its own Message ID — you will find it in the row detail, and a click selects the whole value. We use it to trace a specific message with the delivery provider, so it is the fastest way to report a delivery problem.

What the Message ID means, why it used to be called SMS ID and where to find it in the API response and in the delivery confirmation is described in Message ID. How to report an undelivered message with it is described in Message was not delivered.

Which statuses appear in the history?

Status Meaning
Sent the message was handed over for delivery
Accepted the carrier accepted the message
Delivered the message reached the end device
Read the recipient opened the message
Recipient unavailable the recipient's device was not reachable
Error the message could not be delivered
DND the recipient has "do not disturb" enabled

You can filter the list by status as well — open Filter and use the Status field. Which statuses a message can reach depends on the channel; Read, for example, is only reported by channels that support read receipts.
