How do I get a verified Viber Sender ID for API use?

Submit a request through our registration form after signing up with BulkGate. We'll guide you through the required documentation and submit the application to Viber on your behalf. Approval typically takes 3–5 business days.

Can I initiate conversations via the API?

Yes, you can send business-initiated messages, typically charged by type (OTP, Transactional, Promotional) per delivered message. If a customer replies to any of your business-initiated messages, a 24-hour conversational session opens.

What are Viber conversational sessions and how does the API handle them?

A 24-hour conversational session begins when a customer messages your business or replies to your message. Once you send your first response within this window, billing for one session is activated. You can then exchange up to 60 messages total (including up to 5 consecutive business messages) at no additional cost. The session ends after the 24-hour window expires or the 60-message limit is reached.

What rich media and interactive elements does the API support?

Our API supports sending text (up to 7,000 characters), images, videos, files (up to 200 MB), stickers, location pins, contact cards, URLs with previews, interactive buttons (URL, reply), quick reply keyboards, and carousels.

How does SMS fallback work with the Viber API?

The Viber API itself does not provide fallback. With Business Messaging API, you can set a channel cascade and automatically switch to WhatsApp, RCS, or standard SMS when Viber is unavailable.

How do I receive delivery and seen statuses via the API?

You can configure webhooks in your BulkGate account. Our platform will then send real-time status updates (delivered, seen, failed) for messages sent via the API directly to your specified URL.
