It's the official programming interface provided through BulkGate that allows your applications to programmatically send and receive WhatsApp messages, leveraging BulkGate's infrastructure and platform features.

How do I get a verified WhatsApp Business profile for API use?

You initiate the request through this form after registering on BulkGate. We'll guide you through the required documentation and submit the request to Meta on your behalf. Approval typically takes 2–5 business days.

Can I initiate conversations via the API?

Yes, you can send business-initiated messages using pre-approved templates, typically charged based on their type (Authentication, Utility, Marketing) per delivered message. If a customer replies to any of your business-initiated messages, a 24-hour conversation window opens.

What are WhatsApp conversation windows and how does the API handle them?

When a customer messages you, a 24-hour customer service window opens. Our API allows you to freely send and receive messages within this window. Both your free-form messages and even Utility templates are free during this window. After the window closes, you must use a paid template message to re-engage the user, which you can also send via our API.

What message types can I send within the 24-hour customer service window?

Within the free 24-hour window, you can use our API to send any free-form message (text, media, etc.) to address the customer's query. Crucially, during this time you can also send Utility templates (such as order status or appointment confirmation) for free.

However, all messages, even within this window, must comply with WhatsApp Business Policy. Unsolicited promotional content is not permitted without prior, specific user consent, even during the 24-hour window.

How does the WhatsApp Business pricing model work?

You only pay for template messages (Marketing, Utility, Authentication) that you send to initiate conversations. When a customer messages you first, all your replies within the 24-hour service window are free, including Utility templates.

What rich media and interactive elements does the API support?

Our API supports sending text (up to 4,096 characters), images, videos, files (up to 100 MB), stickers, location sharing, contact cards, interactive buttons (URL, reply), quick replies, and list messages.

How does SMS fallback work with WhatsApp API?

While the WhatsApp API itself does not handle fallback, you can configure channel cascading. If an API call to send via WhatsApp fails (for example, the user does not have WhatsApp), our system can automatically reroute the message via SMS or another channel.

How do I get delivery and read status via the API?

You can configure webhooks in your BulkGate account. Our platform will then send real-time status updates (delivered, read, failed) for messages sent via the API directly to your specified URL.
