Billing information
What billing information is for
Billing information goes on the tax documents for topping up credit, and it decides whether VAT is added to your payment. It is kept separately for each wallet, so each one can invoice a different entity.
Filling it in is not technically mandatory — you can top up without it. The
portal will warn you during top-up with Billing information is not filled.
though, and without it you get no proper tax document.
Where to fill it in
Two routes, both leading to the wallet detail:
| From | Where |
|---|---|
| Left menu | Payments > Billing information |
| Wallets | Wallets > pick a wallet |
In the Billing information section fill the fields in and store them with
Save; Cancel discards unsaved changes.
| Field | What goes in it |
|---|---|
First name, Last name |
Contact person |
Email |
The address the tax documents are sent to |
Company |
Company name |
Company number |
Registration number |
Company VAT |
VAT identification number — see VAT and the reverse charge |
Street, City, Zip, Country |
Registered address |
The country also drives the currency of the wallet: Czech koruna for the Czech Republic, euro for every other country.
On a wallet shared with you by someone else your
access may be Read only — then you can see the details but not change them.
VAT and the reverse charge
BulkGate is based in the Czech Republic, and the tax treatment follows from where you do business:
| Where you are from | VAT ID | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Czech Republic | with or without one | VAT is always charged at the Czech rate |
| EU outside the Czech Republic | valid, verified VAT ID | VAT is not charged — the reverse charge mechanism applies |
| EU outside the Czech Republic | missing or unverified | VAT is charged at the rate of your country |
| Outside the EU | — | VAT is not charged |
The rate that applies to you is shown in the last step of the top-up, on the
VAT line.
How the VAT ID is verified
The portal first checks the format for your country and then asks the European VIES register whether such a VAT ID actually exists. It fills in the country prefix itself, so you may write it but do not have to.
When a VAT ID fails verification, the portal warns you during top-up with
Invalid VAT number. You will be charged with VAT. Check your number directly
in VIES and fix
it in your billing information before you top up — once the payment is made the
document cannot be rewritten.
The VIES register goes down now and then, and individual countries have outages of their own (availability overview). If you have a VAT ID filled in and verification happens to be unavailable, the top-up page will not open at all and ends with an error. Try again in a while, or contact support.
The documents issued are in Payments > Invoices.
